Painted Horizons
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to travel across the United States, visiting many of our country’s breathtaking national parks. Standing amid these landscapes, I was overwhelmed. The sheer vastness of the world lay out before me, each park telling its own story. I knew I had to capture these feelings on canvas.
As I embarked on this creative journey, the rumors of federal budget cuts to these parks were becoming a reality. I realized the danger these natural wonders were facing. I was worried for the loss of their beauty and ecological importance, but even more so, I knew that if I could have such a strong emotional connection to these landscapes, thousands before me had too. I realized I needed to preserve these memories, not just for myself but to advocate for future generations to experience these life-changing memories.
And suddenly, this new collection came to life. Featuring seven original paintings of seven different national parks, this series is my tribute to these irreplaceable landscapes. Because each park has its distinct character, I approached every piece with a fresh perspective. Some scenes demanded intricate detail to capture the delicate interplay of light and form. Others called for bold brushstrokes, textured surfaces, or layers of shadow and mystery. I knew I had to stretch myself beyond my typical style to reflect the unique spirit of the place.
This collection invites viewers to reflect on their memories of these parks and to consider the importance of preserving them for generations to come. I hope that through art, we can deepen our connection to these landscapes and inspire action to protect them.
In addition to this collection, I’m currently accepting commissions for custom pieces. Whether you have a favorite national park, a beloved landscape, or a special place that holds meaning for you, I would be honored to bring that vision to life through my art. Feel free to reach out to discuss ideas!
