PORTFOLIO

  • E X P A N S E S

I capture the lack of clarity of a liminal space through vast expanses, reminiscent of a landscape that is inviting and intriguing, yet somehow inaccessible. These works of art examine places and moments that are commonly overlooked, providing the viewer with a chance to experience the human emotions that come from these liminal space moments.

  • Letters to Cambodia

I painted these pieces after returning from a trip to Cambodia and Thailand working with an organization called Destiny Rescue. They are working to end child exploitation and slavery; rescuing, providing aftercare therapy and healthcare, job training, as well as taking preventative action in local villages. It was a moving trip, needless to say. Seeing the girls that had been rescued and the smiles on their faces, it gave me so much hope and that’s what these paintings are all about. The light in the darkness, their strength in the chaos, and their peace despite their trauma.

  • Houses of Detroit

With each piece in my Houses of Detroit Series, I hope to tell a different story. In some pieces, I utilize my brushwork to express the turbulent situations individuals in this area are faced with; often creating a foggy lens that imitates the emotional state of the people going through the process of losing their home or the very memory of their home.
